The NSW Government, from the 1st June 2020, has relaxed all COVID19 travel restrictions in NSW including holiday travel.
Valued Guests, as we are all aware right now, coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to have a significant and unprecedented impact across Australia and the world. As a family owned and operated business, the health and well-being of our guests and staff is Wanderers Retreat’s highest priority.
We want to reassure you that we have a proactive and practical approach to addressing concerns about this issue. COVID-19 is a respiratory illness caused by a new virus. In response to the current pandemic, we will continue to follow the latest advice and directions from the Federal and NSW State Government.
Below we answer some commonly asked questions for those of you who have planned or are planning a break at Wanderers Retreat, Port Stephens.
What is the current situation at Wanderers Retreat?
Come and stay with us. Wanderers Retreat is a unique holiday destination in that we offer wide open spaces, plenty of room between cottages to relax and enjoy your stay in safety. Given the wide-open space, you are able to manage your own social distancing in style and well in excess of the government’s requirements.
We have revised cancellation policies in place that are consistent with the ACCC’s advice. Please refer for details below or to our Terms & Conditions listed at the bottom of our “Book Now” page on our website.
Please Note: We are unable to provide Emergency Accommodation. If you, or someone you know requires housing due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, please contact the NSW Department for Communities and Justice.
WHAT IS WANDERERS RESPONSE TO COVID-19?
All of our cottages are self-contained, with their own private deck and BBQ. Ideal for escaping from the city crowds and having a self-isolation stay in nature.
Wanderers Retreat with its cottage layout already maintains exceedingly high social distancing measures. We encourage our guests in their interactions to do the same.
You can be sure that all accommodation and facilities are being meticulously cleaned and disinfected to the highest standards.
Our linen and towels are laundered off the premises by South Pacific Laundry to the highest standards. They conduct a microbial test on every wash to ensure that there is no potential for contamination.
We are doing self check-ins to minimise the need for guests to interact with us.
Wanderers has great WiFi that is free use to guests. With the commissioning of the new Telstra tower in March we now have good Telstra mobile reception. All allowing our guests to stay in touch with their families, work and the world.

what are my payment terms and can I CHANGE OR CANCEL MY BOOKING DUE TO COVID?

If I make a new booking direct via the website; wanderersretreat.com or by phone, can I change it if my circumstances change?
Yes, in most instances. Wanderers Retreat has made our COVID19 cancellation terms much more flexible for both current and new reservations in response to COVID-19.
Wanderers Retreat will provide a credit for guests who have to cancel if they are directed to self isolated due to COVID19. Credit conditions are listed on the “Book Now” page.
