Our names are Vivienne and Barry and we became the proud owners of Wanderers Retreat Eco Retreat, Port Stephens in November 2017. After 18 months of searching, Wanderers Retreat and Port Stephens, provided the essential answers to our much sought after life style sea change.
When we inspected the property for the first time we were taken by the natural beauty and tranquility of the setting in a melaleuca rainforest with immediate access to the magnificent One Mile Beach. Our choice was easy. We gratefully accepted stewardship of this wonderful property from the previous owners Ian and Jane and have now made it our home.
We would like our guests in their brief stays with us to enjoy the delights of this wonderful property and location. Wanderers Retreat eco resort is a very special place. Situated in 1.2 hectares of tranquil old growth melaleuca rainforest, a natural koala habitat, with walking access to the beautiful One Mile Beach, Boat Harbour or Kingsley Beach.
Our unique location is just 2.5 hours from Sydney, 25 minutes from Newcastle Airport, and 1 hour from the Hunter Valley wine district. Port Stephens Buses operate a service direct from Sydney’s Central Railway Station right to our front door.
Port Stephens is the perfect getaway destination. A pristine blue water harbour paradise, two and a half times the size of Sydney harbour, 26 beautiful beaches, filled with fantastic restaurants, cafés, wineries and breweries just waiting to be explored.
Enjoy an evening of fine dining or unwind with an alfresco brunch and a cup of coffee, the choice is all yours. Stockton Beach, nearby, has 32 km of the longest moving sand dunes in the southern hemisphere. These truly awe-inspiring dunes reach heights of over 40 meters with slopes up to 60 degrees to form a majestic, moonscape.
Go whale and dolphin spotting from our local beaches or take a cruise. One Mile Beach and Boat Harbour provides excellent vantage points to watch the annual whale migration, which runs from March to early November each year.
